Sword of GlastonburyPendant For many generations intriguing things have been told about the legendary sword Excalibur which is said to rest at the bottom of the lake of Glastonbury since the end of King Arthur's rule. This symbol for royal power with its double falcon-head as a hand guard was worn in former times as a talisman for success and security in life. The runic characters on this pendant mean "Glastonbury" and "Peter Pracownik", who is the present-day artist who created this talisman according to old references. This pendant is made of pewter. The word pewter is probably a variation of the word spelter, a colloquial name for the same metal. Artists and craftsmen used pewter quite early (dinnerware, sculptures, household articles, pewter figures, jewelry) and hence pewter jewelry has a long tradition. Pewter is a popular material for jewelry production, since it is a shiny, soft metal which is very malleable and has a good tarnish resistance.
