Caduceus - Pendant

Here one can see two serpents winding around the Caduceus staff. One is the serpent of power and the other the serpent of shape controlling the power. Both serpents are complete reflections of each other, totally identical and the same forever they are not able to exist without their partner. Thus the Caduceus becomes a symbol for the powers of healing being in perfect balance.
 
This pendant is made of pewter, a shiny, soft metal which is very malleable and has a good tarnish resistance. Artists and craftsmen used pewter quite early (dinnerware, sculptures, household articles, pewter figures, jewelry) and hence pewter jewelry has a long tradition. The word pewter is probably a variation of the word spelter, a colloquial name for the same metal.
